COVID – 19 & KY Animal Services
Kentucky’s Governor, Andy Beshear, issues a State of Emergency Executive Order that addresses Animal Shelters and Rescues. When defining Live Sustaining Businesses that may remain open, he specifically lists animal shelter, rescues, and adoption facilites among those businesses. On pg 2, section 1(c) he states;
Food, Beverage, and Agriculture. Food and beverage manufacturing, production, professing, and cultivation, including farming, livestock, fishing, baking, and other production agriculture, including cultivation, marketing, production, and distribution of animals and goods for consumption, and businesses that provide, food, shelter, and other necessities of life for animals, including animal shelters, rescues, shelters, kennels, and adoption facilities.
In the midst of this disaster, the Beshear Family had to say goodbye to their dog Maddy. Disaster and heartache, yet he remembered to include the displaced animals of our community and those of us who care for them. For what its worth Sir, we thank you.
